Cloning a XenApp server with remapped drives

A fellow Shannon Ma Virtualized fan has posted a link that talks about how you can clone a XenApp server with remapped drives. Check out http://kb.acronis.com/content/1666 if you’re interested in this. The article talks about a few ways you can accomplish this with and without Acronis’ imaging solution. To be honest, I haven’t had a chance to try this out but it seems like a handy reference if you’re looking to XenAppPrep your servers with remapped drives. Thanks Mike!
I know you are off to the Apple world but just a quick question. I am not using provisioning yet and want to make a XenApp template to populate severs on our production farm. I read a Citrix best practices guide for the validation step to create the template on at test farm. Is this necessary? Meaning can I build out my server, configure for production farm, run XenAppPrep and sysprep, and create template? Or is there a possibility of totally bombing my prod farm database?
Also, is XenAppPrep removing the server from the farm? or would a template created still be part of the farm that was configured in the “gold” version?
Thanks,
Seth
